I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about a hunting arrow without feathers or a sharp head, and he said, "Do not eat the game unless it pierces."
حدثنا عمرو بن عبد الله حدثنا وكيع عن أبيه عن منصور عن إبراهيم عن همام بن الحارث النخعي
سألت رسول الله ﷺ عن المعراض فقال لا تأكل إلا أن يخزق
Recorded by Bukhari, in the Book of Sacrifices and Hunting, Chapter on What the Sharp Edge of the Crossbow Bolt Strikes, hadith no. 5477, 7397, and by Muslim, in the Book of Hunting and Sacrifices, Chapter on Hunting with Trained Dogs and Shooting, hadith no. 1929, from the hadith of Mansur, with this same wording.
