I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about hunting with a featherless arrow.He replied, "Whatever you strike with its sharp edge, eat it, but whatever you strike with its broad side is considered killed by a blunt object, so do not eat it."

سألت رسول الله ﷺ عن الصيد بالمعراض قال ما أصبت بحده فكل وما أصبت بعرضه فهو وقيذ
Bukhari narrated it in "Slaughtered Animals and Hunting," chapter on invoking Allah's name over the game, no. 5475, and Muslim in "Hunting and Slaughtered Animals," chapter on hunting with trained dogs and shooting, no. 4/1929, from the hadith of Zakariya, through him.
