The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were it not that dogs are a community among the communities, I would have ordered them to be killed. So kill among them the pure black ones. No people keep a dog, except a sheepdog, a hunting dog, or a farm dog, without two qirats being deducted from their reward each day."
[Hasan]: Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Hunting, chapter on keeping a dog for hunting and other purposes, hadith 2745, from the hadith of Yunus, with this wording. Tirmidhi said, in hadith 1489 and 1486, hasan sahih.Hasan used the phrase "an" (indicating a possible break in the chain), but there are supporting narrations for it, which I have mentioned in Nayl Maqsud.
