The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him some sheep to distribute among his companions as sacrificial animals. A young goat was left over, so he mentioned it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said, "Sacrifice it yourself."
حدثنا محمد بن رمح أنبأنا الليث بن سعد عن يزيد بن أبي حبيب عن أبي الخير
أن رسول الله ﷺ أعطاه غنما فقسمها على أصحابه ضحايا فبقي عتود فذكره لرسول الله ﷺ فقال ضح به أنت
Bukhari narrated it in "Wakalah" (Agency), chapter "The Agency of a Partner for His Partner in Division and Other Matters," hadith 2300, from the hadith of Layth, through him.Muslim also narrated it in "Adahi" (Sacrifices), chapter "The Age Requirement for the Udhiya," hadith 1965, from Ibn Ramh, through him.
