Someone asked Ibn Umar about sacrificial offerings, whether they are obligatory.He replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ offered sacrifices, and the Muslims after him offered sacrifices, and it has become the established practice."Hisham bin Ammar narrated to us, Ismail bin Ayyash narrated to us, Hajjaj bin Artah narrated to us, Jabala bin Suhaym narrated to us, who said, "I asked Ibn Umar," and he mentioned the same report exactly.

Grading, its chain is daif. Tabarani reported it in al-Awsat, 7/147–148, no. 6264, from the hadith of Ismail through him, and said, "This hadith was not narrated from Ibn Awn except by Ismail bin Ayyash." See also no. 75, 595, 2361 for its defect. Ismail bin Ayyash is daif in narrations other than those of the Syrians, and in others besides that as well.Grading, its chain is daif. Tirmidhi reported it in the chapter on Udhiya, section "The evidence that udhiya is a sunnah," no. 1506, from the hadith of Hajjaj through him, and said, hasan sahih. See also no. 496, 2587 for its defect. Hajjaj bin Artah is daif, a mudallis, and not a Syrian.
