The Prophet ﷺ garlanded and marked the sacrificial animals and sent them off, yet he did not avoid the things that a person in the state of ihram avoids.
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا حماد بن خالد عن أفلح عن القاسم
أن النبي ﷺ قلد وأشعر وأرسل بها ولم يجتنب ما يجتنب المحرم

Bukhari narrated it in his chapter on Hajj, in the section on one who marks the sacrificial animal and garlands it at Zulhulayfa then enters ihram, hadith no. 1696, and elsewhere, and Muslim narrated it in his chapter on Hajj, in the section on the desirability of sending the sacrificial animal to the Sacred Precinct for one who does not intend to go himself, and so on, hadith no. 1321/132, from the hadith of Aflah bin Humayd, through the same chain.
