I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Whoever breaks a bone or becomes lame has been released from his state of ihram, but he must perform another Hajj."I mentioned this to Ibn Abbas and Abu Hurayrah, and they both said, "He spoke the truth."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد وابن علية عن حجاج بن أبي عثمان حدثني يحيى بن أبي كثير حدثني عكرمة
سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول من كسر أو عرج فقد حل وعليه حجة أخرى فحدثت به ابن عباس وأبا هريرة فقالا صدق
Its chain is sahih. Abu Dawud narrated it in "The Rites," chapter "Being Prevented from Completing the Rites," hadith no. 1862, as a hasan sahih hadith. Hakim declared it sahih according to the criterion of Yahya bin Saeed, with this wording, and Tirmidhi said [it is hasan sahih], hadith no. 940. Bukhari, 1/470, 483. Dhahabi agreed with him, and it has been criticized on grounds that do not detract from it.
