He was asked how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ traveled when he set out from Arafah. He replied, "He would travel at a moderate pace, and when he found an open space, he would quicken his pace."Waki said, "Nass means faster than the moderate pace."
حدثنا علي بن محمد وعمرو بن عبد الله قالا حدثنا وكيع حدثنا هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
أنه سئل كيف كان رسول الله ﷺ يسير حين دفع من عرفة قال كان يسير العنق فإذا وجد فجوة نص قال وكيع والنص يعني فوق العنق
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Hajj, Chapter on Traveling When One Departs from Arafah, Hadith 1666, 2999, 4413, and Muslim in the Book of Hajj, Chapter on Moving from Arafat to Muzdalifa, etc., Hadith 1286, from the hadith of Hisham, with the same chain.
