He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Hajj is jihad, and Umrah is voluntary."

[Its chain of transmission is extremely daif] Tabarani recorded it in al-Awsat (7/370, no. 6719) through the hadith of Hisham with this wording, and said, "Hisham bin Ammar narrated it alone."Busiri said, "This chain of transmission is daif. Umar bin Qays, known as Sindal, was declared daif by Ahmad, Ibn Main, Fallas, Abu Zura, Bukhari, Abu Hatim, Abu Dawud, Nasai, and others, and Hasan, the narrator from him, is also daif."
