The tamattu form of Hajj was specific to the companions of Muhammad ﷺ.
حدثنا علي بن محمد حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن إبراهيم التيمي عن أبيه
كانت المتعة في الحج لأصحاب محمد ﷺ خاصة
Muslim narrated it in "the Book of Hajj," in the chapter on the permissibility of tamattu, hadith no. 1224, from the hadith of Abu Muawiya, through this same chain.
