I will tell you something that perhaps Allah will benefit you with after today. Know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed umrah, as did some of his household, during the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not forbid it, nor was any abrogation of it revealed. After that, a man said about it whatever he wished to say based on his own opinion.
حدثنا علي بن محمد حدثنا أبو أسامة عن الجريري عن أبي العلاء يزيد بن الشخير عن أخيه مطرف بن عبد الله بن الشخير قال
إني أحدثك حديثا لعل الله أن ينفعك به بعد اليوم اعلم أن رسول الله ﷺ قد اعتمر طائفة من أهله في العشر من ذي الحجة فلم ينه عنه رسول الله ﷺ ولم ينزل نسخه قال في ذلك بعد رجل برأيه ما شاء أن يقول
Muslim reported it in Sahih Muslim, Hajj, chapter on the permissibility of tamattu, hadith no. 1226, from the hadith of Jareeri through this chain.
