A horse of his ran off and was seized by the enemy. The Muslims then prevailed over them, and the horse was returned to him during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.He said, A slave of his also fled and joined the Romans. The Muslims prevailed over them, and Khalid bin Walid returned the slave to him after the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

ذهبت فرس له فأخذها العدو فظهر عليهم المسلمون فرد عليه في زمن رسول الله ﷺ قال وأبق عبد له فلحق بالروم فظهر عليهم المسلمون فرده عليه خالد بن الوليد بعد وفاة رسول الله ﷺ
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Jihad, Chapter "If the Polytheists Seize the Property of a Muslim, Then the Muslim Finds It," 3067, as a suspended narration, and Abu Dawud, 2699, from the hadith of Ibn Numayr, from the hadith of Ubaydullah, with this wording.
