Saab bin Jathama reported that the Prophet ﷺ was asked about polytheist households that are raided at night, in which women and children are killed.He replied, "They are among them."

Bukhari transmitted it in "Jihad and Expeditions," in the chapter "The People of a House Attacked at Night Where Children and Offspring Are Struck, etc.," hadith 3012, and Muslim in "Jihad," in the chapter "The Permissibility of Killing Women and Children in a Night Raid Without Intentional Targeting," hadith 1745, from the hadith of Sufyan, by this same chain.
