He met him and spoke with him. He said, "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him, 'Messenger of Allah, the cooking pots of the polytheists, may we cook in them?'He replied, 'Do not cook in them.'I said, 'But what if we need them and can find no alternative?'He said, 'Then wash them thoroughly, then cook and eat.'"

Grading, sahih, though Busiri graded it daif because of Yazid bin Sinan, as mentioned previously in hadith 2581. The hadith has many corroborating narrations in Bukhari and Muslim and others, see hadith 3207. Abu Dawud also related it in hadith 3839 from the hadith of Abu Thalaba with similar wording, and its isnad is sahih.
