I came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, "Messenger of Allah, which jihad is best?"He replied, "That of one whose blood is shed and whose horse is hamstrung."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا يعلى بن عبيد حدثنا حجاج بن دينار عن محمد بن ذكوان عن شهر بن حوشب
أتيت النبي ﷺ فقلت يا رسول الله أي الجهاد أفضل قال من أهريق دمه وعقر جواده
[Sahih]. Busiri graded it daif because of Muhammad bin Zakwan Jahdami, since he is daif as stated in Taqrib and elsewhere. However, it has many corroborating witnesses, including what Abu Dawud recorded (Hadith: 1449) and others, with a hasan chain of transmission. Hafiz Munziri and Asqalani both affirmed its strength.
