The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "In Medina there are some men. You have not crossed a valley nor traveled a road without their sharing the reward with you. Only valid excuses kept them behind."Abu Abdullah said, "Or as he said. I wrote it down word for word."
حدثنا أحمد بن سنان حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن أبي سفيان
قال رسول الله ﷺ إن بالمدينة رجالا ما قطعتم واديا ولا سلكتم طريقا إلا شركوكم في الأجر حبسهم العذر قال أبو عبد الله أو كما قال كتبته لفظا
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Leadership, Chapter on the Reward of One Whose Illness or Other Excuse Prevented Him from Fighting, hadith no. 1911, from the hadith of Amash through this same chain.
