The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "An infant does not inherit until he gives a loud cry at birth." He explained, "His cry means that he weeps and shouts, or sneezes."
حدثنا العباس بن الوليد الدمشقي حدثنا مروان بن محمد حدثنا سليمان بن بلال حدثني يحيى بن سعيد عن سعيد بن المسيب
قال رسول الله ﷺ لا يرث الصبي حتى يستهل صارخا قال واستهلاله أن يبكي ويصيح أو يعطس
Its isnad is hasan. Tabarani reported it in Al-Awsat, 5/303, no. 4596, through the route of Abbas bin Walid, with the same wording, and Ibrahim bin Atiq, Abu Ishaq Absi, corroborated him, as found in Sahmi's Tarikh Jurjan (p. 471, no. 938). Ibrahim is truthful, as stated in Al-Jarh wal-Tadil, 2/122.
