A man brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the killer of his relative. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Pardon him."The man refused. He said, "Then take the blood-money."The man refused. He said, "Go and kill him, for you are just like him."So the man went off with him. Someone said to him, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has said, 'Kill him, for you are just like him.'"So he set him free. He was then seen dragging his rope as he went back to his family, as though he had tied him up.Abu Umayr said in his version, Ibn Shawdhab reported from Abdul-Rahman bin Qasim, "So no one after the Prophet ﷺ is permitted to say, 'Kill him, for you are just like him.'"Ibn Majah said, This hadith is from the people of Ramlah and is found only with them.
