The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever suffers the killing of a relative or a wound, and khabl means a wound, has a choice between one of three things. If he seeks a fourth, restrain him. He may either kill the offender, pardon him, or take the blood-money. Whoever accepts one of these and then returns to seek revenge, the fire of Hell will be his, where he will abide forever."
حدثنا عثمان وأبو بكر ابنا أبي شيبة قالا حدثنا أبو خالد الأحمر ح و حدثنا أبو بكر وعثمان ابنا أبي شيبة قالا حدثنا جرير وعبد الرحيم بن سليمان جميعا عن محمد بن إسحق عن الحارث بن فضيل أظنه عن ابن أبي العوجاء واسمه سفيان
قال رسول الله ﷺ من أصيب بدم أو خبل والخبل الجرح فهو بالخيار بين إحدى ثلاث فإن أراد الرابعة فخذوا على يديه أن يقتل أو يعفو أو يأخذ الدية فمن فعل شيئا من ذلك فعاد فإن له نار جهنم خالدا مخلدا فيها أبدا
Its isnad is daif. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Diyat, chapter, "The Leader Instructing Pardon in Cases of Bloodshed," hadith no. 4496, from the hadith of Ibn Ishaq, with this wording, and he explicitly stated that he heard it directly, as found in Tahawi's Maani al-Athar, 3/174, 175, based on a corruption that occurred in the chain of transmission.Sufyan bin Abu Awjaa is daif (as noted in Taqrib and other sources), though part of his hadith has a hasan corroborating narration in Ahmad, 32/4.
