Safwan bin Umaya bin Khalaf reported,

We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when Amr bin Mura came and said, "Messenger of Allah, Allah has decreed wretchedness upon me, and I see no way of earning my living except by what I beat with my hands, so permit me to sing songs that are not indecent."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "I will not permit you, no honor for you, no delight to your eye. You have lied, enemy of Allah. Allah has provided you with what is good and lawful, yet you have chosen what Allah has forbidden you from His provision in place of what Allah has made lawful for you. Had I given you prior warning, I would have done such and such to you. Get away from me and repent to Allah. Be warned, if you do this after this warning, I will beat you a painful beating, shave your head as a disgrace, banish you from your family, and make your possessions lawful plunder for the young men of Madina."Amr stood up bearing such evil and disgrace as none knows but Allah. When he had turned away, the Prophet ﷺ said, "These sinners, whoever among them dies without repentance, Allah will gather him on the Day of Resurrection just as he was in this world, an effeminate man, naked, unable to cover himself from people with even a fringe of cloth, every time he stands he is thrown down."

حدثنا الحسن بن أبي الربيع الجرجاني أنبأنا عبد الرزاق أخبرني يحيى بن العلاء أنه سمع بشر بن نمير أنه سمع مكحولا يقول إنه سمع يزيد بن عبد الله أنه سمع

صفوان بن أمية قال

كنا عند رسول الله ﷺ فجاء عمرو بن مرة فقال يا رسول الله إن الله قد كتب علي الشقوة فما أراني أرزق إلا من دفي بكفي فأذن لي في الغناء في غير فاحشة فقال رسول الله ﷺ لا آذن لك ولا كرامة ولا نعمة عين كذبت أي عدو الله لقد رزقك الله طيبا حلالا فاخترت ما حرم الله عليك من رزقه مكان ما أحل الله عز وجل لك من حلاله ولو كنت تقدمت إليك لفعلت بك وفعلت قم عني وتب إلى الله أما إنك إن فعلت بعد التقدمة إليك ضربتك ضربا وجيعا وحلقت رأسك مثلة ونفيتك من أهلك وأحللت سلبك نهبة لفتيان أهل المدينة فقام عمرو وبه من الشر والخزي ما لا يعلمه إلا الله فلما ولى قال النبي ﷺ هؤلاء العصاة من مات منهم بغير توبة حشره الله عز وجل يوم القيامة كما كان في الدنيا مخنثا عريانا لا يستتر من الناس بهدبة كلما قام صرع
