Ashath bin Qays reported,

I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a delegation from Kindah, and I considered myself the most distinguished among them. I said, "Messenger of Allah, are you not from us?"He replied, "We are the descendants of Nadr bin Kinanah. We do not impugn our mother, nor do we disown our father."Ashath bin Qays used to say, "No man is brought before me who has denied the lineage of any man from Quraysh back to Nadr bin Kinanah without my flogging him with the prescribed punishment."
