When my exoneration was revealed, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood on the pulpit, mentioned it, and recited the Quran. When he came down, he ordered that two men and a woman be punished, and they were given the prescribed lashes.
حدثنا محمد بن بشار حدثنا ابن أبي عدي عن محمد بن إسحق عن عبد الله بن أبي بكر عن عمرة
لما نزل عذري قام رسول الله ﷺ على المنبر فذكر ذلك وتلا القرآن فلما نزل أمر برجلين وامرأة فضربوا حدهم
[Its chain of transmission is graded hasan] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Hudud chapter, "The section on the punishment for slander," hadith no. 4474, from the hadith of Ibn Abu Adi with the same wording. Tirmidhi also narrated it, hadith no. 3181, from Muhammad bin Bashshar with the same wording, and said, "Hasan gharib." And Ibn Ishaq explicitly stated that he heard it directly, as recorded by Bayhaqi, 8/250.
