Zayd bin Khalid reported,

I met Rabia and asked him about it, and he said, Yazid narrated to me from Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani that the Prophet ﷺ was asked about a stray camel. He became angry, his cheeks turning red, and said, "What business do you have with it? It has its hooves and its water supply with it. It can reach water and feed on trees until its owner finds it."He was asked about a stray sheep, and he said, "Take it, for it is either for you, for your brother, or for the wolf."He was asked about a lost item that someone finds, and he said, "Take note of its container and its tie, then announce it for a year. If someone claims it, give it to them. Otherwise, it becomes part of your own property."
