The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Every division of inheritance made during the time of ignorance stands as it was divided, but every division that Islam has reached is to be made according to the division prescribed by Islam."
حدثنا العباس بن جعفر حدثنا موسى بن داود حدثنا محمد بن مسلم الطائفي عن عمرو بن دينار عن أبي الشعثاء
قال رسول الله ﷺ كل قسم قسم في الجاهلية فهو على ما قسم وكل قسم أدركه الإسلام فهو على قسم الإسلام
[Its chain of transmission is hasan] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Inheritance, chapter on one who embraces Islam and inherits, hadith no. 2914, from the hadith of Musa, transmitted through him. Ibn Abdul-Hadi and Diya Maqdisi affirmed its strength, and it has very many corroborating narrations.
