Jabir bin Abdullah reported that his father had died leaving a debt of thirty wasqs owed to a Jewish man. Jabir asked him for an extension, but the man refused to grant one. So Jabir spoke to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to intercede with the man on his behalf. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and spoke to the Jewish man, asking him to accept the fruit of Jabir's palm trees in settlement of the debt, but he refused. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke to him again, but he refused to grant any extension. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the grove and walked through it, then said to Jabir, "Pick the fruit for him and pay him in full what he is owed."So Jabir picked the fruit after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had departed, and he paid the man thirty wasqs in full, with twelve wasqs left over.Jabir went to inform the Messenger of Allah ﷺ of what had happened, but he found him absent. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned, Jabir came and told him that he had paid the debt in full, and informed him of the surplus that remained. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Tell Umar bin Khattab about this."So Jabir went to Umar and told him.Umar said to him, "I knew, when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ walked through the grove, that Allah would surely bless it."
