The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Any man who incurs a debt while determined not to repay it will meet Allah as a thief."Ibrahim bin al-Mundhir al-Hizami narrated to us, Yusuf bin Muhammad bin Sayfi narrated to us, from Abdul-Hameed bin Ziyad, from his father, from his grandfather Suhayb, from the Prophet ﷺ, something similar.

(A) [Hasan] Yusuf and Abdul-Hameed are both daif, as will come, hadith 2410b, and Shuayb is of unknown reliability, and no one deemed him reliable except Ibn Hibban. The hadith has a hasan corroborating witness that follows right after it.Takhrij: (B) [Hasan] Aqeeli transmitted it in Duafa 451/4, from the hadith of Ibrahim bin Munzir with this chain. Yusuf bin Muhammad was declared daif by Bukhari and Aqeeli, and Dhahabi mentioned him in Diwan Duafa, while Ibn Hibban and Abu Hatim deemed him reliable. Weakening him is the more likely view, and his teacher is weak in hadith, as noted in Taqrib.The hadith has supporting witnesses, including what Tabarani transmitted in Awsat 2506/2, hadith 172, and 7/119, hadith 6409, with a hasan chain, from Maymun bin Jaban Kurdi, from his father, with this wording at greater length and to similar effect. Haythami said (Majma 132/4), "Its narrators are reliable." So the hadith is hasan. Busiri graded it hasan, and Munziri said, "Its narrators are reliable" (Targheeb 602/2).
