A man held his debtor responsible for ten dinars during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.The debtor said, "I have nothing to give you."The creditor replied, "By Allah, I will not leave you until you pay me or bring me a guarantor."He then dragged him to the Prophet ﷺ.The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "How long will you grant him?"He answered, "A month."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Then I will be his guarantor."The man came back at the time the Prophet ﷺ had set, and the Prophet ﷺ asked him, "Where did you get this from?"He said, "From a mine."The Prophet ﷺ said, "There is no good in it," and he paid the debt on his behalf.

[Its chain is hasan]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Sales, chapter on extracting minerals, no. 3328, through the hadith of Darawardi, with this wording. See also Nayl Maqsud, no. 353, for the corroboration of Amr bin Abu Amr, may Allah have mercy on him.
