The Prophet ﷺ forbade the sale involving an arboon.Abu Abdullah explained that an arboon is when a man buys an animal for one hundred Dinar and gives the seller two Dinar as a deposit, saying, "If I do not go through with purchasing the animal, the two Dinar are yours."It has also been said, and Allah knows best, that it refers to a man who wishes to buy something and hands the seller a Dirham, more or less, saying, "If I take it, fine, but if not, the Dirham is yours."

أن النبي ﷺ نهى عن بيع العربان قال أبو عبد الله العربان أن يشتري الرجل دابة بمائة دينار فيعطيه دينارين عربونا فيقول إن لم أشتر الدابة فالديناران لك وقيل يعني والله أعلم أن يشتري الرجل الشيء فيدفع إلى البائع درهما أو أقل أو أكثر ويقول إن أخذته وإلا فالدرهم لك
