The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by a man in Makkah who was standing in the sun. He asked, "What is this?"They said, "He has vowed to fast, not to seek shade until nightfall, not to speak, and to remain standing."The Prophet ﷺ said, "Let him speak, let him take shade, let him sit down, and let him complete his fast."Husayn bin Muhammad bin Shanba Wasiti reported to us that Ala bin Abdul-Jabbar narrated from Wahib, from Ayub, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, from the Prophet ﷺ, a similar report. And Allah knows best.

Bukhari recorded it in "The Book of Oaths and Vows," chapter "Vows Regarding What One Does Not Own and Vows to Disobedience," no. 6704, from the hadith of Wahib, this being the second narration, and by it the first chain of transmission is proven sahih.
