The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made expiation with a sa of dates and instructed the people to do the same. Whoever could not find that should give half a sa of wheat.
حدثنا العباس بن يزيد حدثنا زياد بن عبد الله البكائي حدثنا عمر بن عبد الله بن يعلى الثقفي عن المنهال بن عمرو عن سعيد بن جبير
كفر رسول الله ﷺ بصاع من تمر وأمر الناس بذلك فمن لم يجد فنصف صاع من بر

[Its chain is daif] Ibn Adi narrated it in Al-Kamil (5/1692) from the hadith of Ziyad, with this same wording. Ibn Kathir said in his Tafsir (2/93), "This hadith is not sound, because of the status of this Umar bin Abdullah, for there is consensus on his weakness, and they mentioned that he used to drink wine." Daraqutni said, "Discarded."
