The two of them wrote to Subayah bint Harith asking her about her situation. She wrote back to them that she had given birth twenty-five days after her husband's death, then she prepared herself and began seeking what was best for her. Abu Sanabil bin Bakak passed by her and said, "You have been too quick. Observe the longer of the two waiting periods, four months and ten days."So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, ask forgiveness for me."He asked, "Why is that?"I told him what had happened, and he said, "If you find a righteous husband, then marry."

[Its isnad is sahih] Tabarani narrated it (Al-Kabir, 24/293), no. 745, from the hadith of Ibn Abi Shayba, with the same wording. Bukhari narrated it, no. 3991 and 5319, and Muslim, no. 1484, from the hadith of Subaia, may Allah be pleased with her, at greater length with similar meaning.
