The Messenger of Allah ﷺ returned his daughter to Abu al-As bin Rabi after two years on the basis of her original marriage contract.
[Its chain of transmission is daif]. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Divorce, chapter on until when his wife is returned to him if she embraces Islam after him, hadith no. 2240, from the hadith of Yazid through this route. Tirmidhi narrated it, hadith nos. 1142 and 1143, and mentioned some remarks, and Hakim and others graded it sahih. What Dawud narrated from Ikrima is munkar, as Ibn Madini and others stated (Tahdheeb). And in Taqrib, he said regarding Dawud bin Husayn, "Trustworthy except in what concerns Ikrima, and he was accused of holding the view of the Khawarij."
