The wife of Rifa Qurazi came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I was married to Rifa, and he divorced me with a final, irrevocable divorce. Then I married Abdul-Rahman bin Zubayr, but what he has is like the fringe of a garment."The Prophet ﷺ smiled and said, "Do you wish to return to Rifa? No, not until you taste his sweetness and he tastes yours."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Testimonies, Chapter on the Testimony of One Who Conceals Himself, no. 2639, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Marriage, Chapter that a Woman Divorced Three Times is Not Lawful for Her Divorcer Until She Marries Another Husband, He Consummates the Marriage with Her, Then He Separates from Her, and Her Waiting Period is Complete, no. 1433, both from the hadith of Sufyan through this same chain.
