I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ hold a wedding feast for any of his wives like the one he held for Zaynab, for he slaughtered a sheep.
حدثنا أحمد بن عبدة حدثنا حماد بن زيد عن ثابت البناني
ما رأيت رسول الله ﷺ أولم على شيء من نسائه ما أولم على زينب فإنه ذبح شاة
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Marriage, Chapter on the Wedding Feast, Even if with a Sheep, hadith no. 5171, 5168, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Marriage, Chapter on the Marriage of Zaynab bint Jahsh, the Revelation of the Verse on Hijab, and the Establishment of the Wedding Feast, hadith no. 1428, from the hadith of Hammad, with the same wording. In one version narrated by Muslim, he fed them bread and meat until they left it.
