Sourcing, sahih. Abu Dawud narrated it in the chapter on Marriage, in the section on one who married and did not specify a dowry for her and then died, hadith no. 2114, 2115, from the hadith of Ibn Mahdi, through this route, and Tirmidhi and Bayhaqi graded it sahih. Until
