The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no one who fails to pay the zakat due on his wealth except that it will be made to appear before him on the Day of Resurrection as a bald serpent that will be wrapped around his neck."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited to us its confirmation from the Book of Allah the Exalted, "Let not those who are stingy with what Allah has given them of His bounty think it is good for them" [Aal Imran 3:180].
حدثنا محمد بن أبي عمر العدني حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن عبد الملك بن أعين وجامع بن أبي راشد سمعا شقيق بن سلمة يخبر
عن رسول الله ﷺ قال ما من أحد لا يؤدي زكاة ماله إلا مثل له يوم القيامة شجاعا أقرع حتى يطوق عنقه ثم قرأ علينا رسول الله ﷺ مصداقه من كتاب الله تعالى {ولا يحسبن الذين يبخلون بما آتاهم الله من فضله} الآية
Reference, its isnad is sahih. Tirmidhi narrated it in the tafsir of the Quran, in the chapter "And from Surah Al Imran," from Adani, with the same wording, and he said, hasan sahih. Humaydi said in his Musnad, "Sufyan narrated to us" (no. 3012), from Ibn Abu Umar Adani, with the same wording, and he said, hasan sahih. "Jami bin Abu Rashid and Abdul-Malik bin Aayun narrated to us," with the same wording (no. 93). Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih (no. 2256).
