The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade women from fasting except with their husbands' permission.

[Its isnad is daif, though the previous hadith serves as a corroborating witness for it. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Fasting, chapter "A woman fasting without her husband's permission," no. 2459, and others narrated it as well, from the hadith of Amash with the same wording, in a longer form. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (in al-Ihsan), no. 1488, as did Hakim and Dhahabi. Amash narrated it using the ambiguous "an" formula, so see no. 178 regarding his practice of concealing defects in transmission.]
