The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is not righteousness to fast while traveling."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة ومحمد بن الصباح قالا حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة عن الزهري عن صفوان بن عبد الله عن أم الدرداء
قال رسول الله ﷺ ليس من البر الصيام في السفر
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Nasai narrated it, 4/174, 175, in the Book of Fasting, chapter "What Is Disliked Regarding Fasting While Traveling," hadith no. 2257, from the hadith of Sufyan, through the same chain. Al-Hakim graded it sahih, 1/433, as did Dhahabi. It has corroborating narrations in Bukhari, hadith no. 1946, and Muslim, hadith no. 1115, and others. See the following hadith.
