The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "How much of the month has passed?"We replied, "Twenty-two days have passed, and eight remain."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The month is like this, and like this, and like this," three times, holding back one finger.
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا أبو معاوية عن الأعمش عن أبي صالح
قال رسول الله ﷺ كم مضى من الشهر قال قلنا اثنان وعشرون وبقيت ثمان فقال رسول الله ﷺ الشهر هكذا والشهر هكذا والشهر هكذا ثلاث مرات وأمسك واحدة
[Sahih] Ahmad reported it: 2/251, from Abu Muawiya and others, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (Mawarid), no. 923, and Busiri. Amash used "an" without specifying direct hearing, as mentioned before, no. 178, and this hadith has many corroborating narrations, see the following hadith.
