We used to consider gathering at the family of the deceased and preparing food after the burial as a form of wailing.

Its chain is daif. Ahmad reported it (22/204), and Tabarani (Al-Kabir: 2/307, 308, no. 2278, 2279) through routes from Ismail, and Nawawi and Busiri graded it sahih.Ismail bin Abu Khalid was described by Nasai as a mudallis (second category in the classifications of mudallisin), and I did not find an explicit statement of his hearing it, but the rest of the chain is sahih.
