When the news of Jafar's death arrived, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Prepare food for the family of Jafar, for something has come upon them that preoccupies them," or, "a matter that preoccupies them."

لما جاء نعي جعفر قال رسول الله ﷺ اصنعوا لآل جعفر طعاما فقد أتاهم ما يشغلهم أو أمر يشغلهم
[Its isnad is hasan] Abu Dawud narrated it in "Funerals," chapter "Preparing food for the family of the deceased," no. 3132, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, through this route, and Tirmidhi, Hakim, Dhahabi, and Ibn Sakan graded it sahih.
