The Prophet ﷺ said, "The deceased is punished for the wailing made over him."
حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي شيبة حدثنا شاذان ح و حدثنا محمد بن بشار ومحمد بن الوليد قالا حدثنا محمد بن جعفر ح و حدثنا نصر بن علي حدثنا عبد الصمد ووهب بن جرير قالوا حدثنا شعبة عن قتادة عن سعيد بن المسيب عن ابن عمر
عن النبي ﷺ قال الميت يعذب بما نيح عليه
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Funerals, Chapter on what is disliked regarding wailing over the deceased, hadith no. 1292, and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Funerals, Chapter on the deceased being punished for the weeping of his family over him, hadith no. 927, both from the hadith of Shubah through this chain. Muslim also narrated it from Ibn Bashar through this chain.
