An Arabi came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, my father used to maintain ties of kinship and he used to do such and such. Where is he now?"The Prophet ﷺ replied, "In the Fire."The man seemed troubled by this and said, "Messenger of Allah, then where is your father?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whenever you pass by the grave of a polytheist, give him the news of the Fire."The Arabi later embraced Islam and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ burdened me with a hard task. I never passed by the grave of a disbeliever without giving him the news of the Fire."

جاء أعرابي إلى النبي ﷺ فقال يا رسول الله إن أبي كان يصل الرحم وكان وكان فأين هو قال في النار قال فكأنه وجد من ذلك فقال يا رسول الله فأين أبوك قال رسول الله ﷺ حيثما مررت بقبر مشرك فبشره بالنار قال فأسلم الأعرابي بعد وقال لقد كلفني رسول الله ﷺ تعبا ما مررت بقبر كافر إلا بشرته بالنار
Sourcing. Its chain is daif, though Busiri graded it sahih, and Diya included it in al-Mukhtarah. Bazzar narrated it in Bahr Zakhkhar, hadith 1089, and Tabarani and others narrated it through two paths, one being Yazid bin Harun and others, from Zuhri, from Amir bin Saad, from his father, with the rest of the wording. See also hadith 707. As for its defect, the path of Bazzar is more likely correct than the narration of Ibn Majah. It was narrated by Zayd bin Akhzam and Muhammad bin Uthman bin Makhlad, both of them from Yazid, with the same wording, from the hadith of Amir bin Saad from his father.
