The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The most merciful of my community toward my community is Abu Bakr. The strictest of them in the religion of Allah is Umar. The most truthful of them in modesty is Uthman. The best of them in judgment is Ali bin Abu Talib. The best of them in reciting the Book of Allah is Ubayy bin Kaab. The most knowledgeable of them concerning the lawful and the unlawful is Muaz bin Jabal. The most learned of them in the laws of inheritance is Zayd bin Thabit. And know that every community has a trustee, and the trustee of this community is Abu Ubayda bin Jarra."
