The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The funeral procession is to be followed, not to be led. Whoever walks ahead of it is not part of it."
حدثنا أحمد بن عبدة أنبأنا عبد الواحد بن زياد عن يحيى بن عبد الله التيمي عن أبي ماجدة الحنفي
قال رسول الله ﷺ الجنازة متبوعة وليست بتابعة ليس منها من تقدمها
[Its chain of transmission is daif] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Funerals, Chapter on Hastening the Funeral, no. 3184, from the hadith of Yahya Taymi with this chain, and Tirmidhi considered it gharib, no. 1011, and Bukhari graded it daif. Yahya is layyin al-hadith (weak in transmission), and Abu Majidah is unknown (Taqrib).
