When the Prophet ﷺ was washed, they went to look for what is usually found from a deceased person, but found nothing of the sort. He said, "May my father be ransomed for you, O pure one. You were pure in life and pure in death."

Its chain of transmission is daif. Bayhaqi (3/388) and others transmitted it through various routes from Maamar with this wording, and Busiri graded it sahih. Hakim (3/59) said it met the standard of the two sheikhs, and Dhahabi agreed with him. Diya included it in al-Mukhtarah (2/4762). Ibn Mubarak and others narrated it from Maamar with this wording as mursal, and Daraqutni preferred this view in al-Ilal (question 371). Salih bin Kaysan narrated from Zuhri, "Saeed bin Musayab narrated to me," with this wording as mursal (Ibn Saad, 2/281), and it has a corroborating report from Shaybi with similar wording.
