The people disagreed about what material the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was made from, so they came to Sahl bin Saad and asked him. He said, "No one alive knows more about it than I do. It was made from the tamarisk wood of al-Ghabah, crafted by so-and-so, the freed slave of so-and-so, the carpenter. He brought it, and when it was set in place, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood upon it, faced the qiblah, and the people stood behind him. He recited, then bowed, then raised his head and stepped backwards until he prostrated on the ground. Then he returned to the pulpit, recited, bowed, stood, and again stepped backwards until he prostrated on the ground."
