A blind man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Pray to Allah to restore my sight."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "If you wish, I will delay the supplication, which is better, and if you wish, I will pray for you now."The man said, "Pray for me."So he instructed him to perform ablution well, pray two units of prayer, and make this supplication, "O Allah, I ask You and turn to You through Muhammad, the Prophet of mercy. Muhammad, I have turned through you to my Lord concerning this need of mine, that it may be granted. O Allah, accept his intercession on my behalf."Abu Ishaq said, "This is an authentic hadith."
حدثنا أحمد بن منصور بن سيار حدثنا عثمان بن عمر حدثنا شعبة عن أبي جعفر المدني عن عمارة بن خزيمة بن ثابت
أن رجلا ضرير البصر أتى النبي ﷺ فقال ادع الله لي أن يعافيني فقال إن شئت أخرت لك وهو خير وإن شئت دعوت فقال ادعه فأمره أن يتوضأ فيحسن وضوءه ويصلي ركعتين ويدعو بهذا الدعاء اللهم إني أسألك وأتوجه إليك بمحمد نبي الرحمة يا محمد إني قد توجهت بك إلى ربي في حاجتي هذه لتقضى اللهم شفعه في قال أبو إسحق هذا حديث صحيح
Its isnad is sahih. Tirmidhi transmitted it in the Book of Supplications, chapter 118, hadith 3578, from the hadith of Uthman bin Umar with this chain, and he said, hasan sahih gharib. Hakim added at the end, in 1/313 and 519, "and let him intercede for me regarding it," and he graded it sahih, as did Dhahabi and others, sometimes saying it meets the standard of the two Shaykhs, and sometimes saying it is simply sahih. I will not point out this kind of discrepancy except rarely, for the sake of brevity, because the two of them occasionally have lapses, and this brief commentary cannot bear the weight of rebuttals, so take note.
