Iyad al-Ashari witnessed an Eid celebration at al-Anbar and said, "Why do I not see you performing the qals as it used to be performed in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"

[Its chain of transmission is daif]. Tabarani narrated it in Al-Kabir, 17/371, hadith no. 1017, through two routes from Sharik, see hadith no. 149 with the same wording. His teacher, Mughira bin Miqsam Dabbi, used to practice tadlis, as mentioned in Taqrib and other sources, and he narrated it using the ambiguous form "an."
