What prevented him from asking me? He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out humbly, simply dressed, with reverence, walking calmly, and supplicating earnestly. He prayed two rakahs as he prays on the Eid, and he did not deliver a sermon like this sermon of yours."
حدثنا علي بن محمد ومحمد بن إسمعيل قالا حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن هشام بن إسحق بن عبد الله بن كنانة عن أبيه قال أرسلني أمير من الأمراء إلى ابن عباس أسأله عن الصلاة في الاستسقاء
ما منعه أن يسألني قال خرج رسول الله ﷺ متواضعا متبذلا متخشعا مترسلا متضرعا فصلى ركعتين كما يصلي في العيد ولم يخطب خطبتكم هذه
[Its isnad is hasan] Abu Dawud narrated it in the chapter on the Prayer for Rain, in the section covering the general topics of the Prayer for Rain and their subdivisions, hadith no. 1165, from the hadith of Hisham bin Ishaq, transmitted in this manner. Tirmidhi, Ibn Khuzayma, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih.
